“I did it.” The Butler said, sitting up straight in the hard, metal backed chair. His face was impassive, his sunken eyes staring at the inspector with all seriousness. The inspector looked him up and down; his black hair was slicked back and there was a streak of light grey going through it. His clothes were formal to suit the dinner party; a black suit with a white shirt and black bow-tie. The inspector notices a small splatter of blood against the shining white.

The scene was gruesome. Four dead bodies in total, all of them piled up in a small heap in the centre of the hallway. Police had arrived after the Butler had given them a call, and they found him in the sitting room reading the newspaper and smoking a pipe. Forensics had examined each of the bodies – three female and one male – and came to the conclusion that a blunt object was used for one, a knife for two others-

“A letter opener, actually.” The Butler interrupted.

-and the final murder was achieved by a fall, most presumably down the stairs, with the neck being snapped in two.

The Butler took his hands from his lap and laid them on the cold table in front of him, palms down, the skin wrinkled and creased with old age. “I am not long for this world, young sir.” He said to the inspector, “I wanted to live my life like he did. I wanted to feel what made him so happy.”

Sebastian, the male body and the owner of the house, was a drug trafficker. He had made his millions in his trade and lived a life of luxury. The inspector was one of the supervisors over the team that was slowly infiltrating his operation; following a trail of corruption and murder.

“The young master had once killed three people at the dinner table. He pulled out a gun and shot them, one bullet each. He then continued his meal while three men carried the dead bodies out one at a time. One of the guests was still twitching as they lifted him out back.”

The Olar murders. The three brothers had been found floating face down in a river, a bullet in each of them. The police had suspected that Sebastian was connected to the Olar murders, but no conclusive evidence had been discovered. Now that it had finally come up, it was useless.

The Butler was processed quickly enough and a trial date was set. There was not much point to it though, every piece of evidence pointed to the Butler, not to mention the confession. It was a needlessly long confession too, with detailed explanation into his motive; to feel as free and as happy as his master did.

Three weeks later the warden found him dead his cell. He was stabbed in his sleep and the two prisoners who done it where sent to solitary confinement. The warden described the scene; thirteen stabs in the stomach. But what he found strange about the whole thing was that the Butler seemed peaceful; his eyes closed in sleep and his mouth curved in a smile.
Another random story that popped into my head. I had a bit of fun with it, but I'm not sure why. I just found it... entertaining to write.

One of my timed pieces where I try and write in a certain time-limit. This took 45 minutes.

Enjoy.
